Dancing
& Live Music Las Vegas Nightlife
Baby's at Hard Rock Hotel Las Vegas Nightlife
4455 Paradise Rd
(702) 693-5000
Accessible only by a dark, twisting staircase, Baby's is wild 1960s modernism
(think "Casino Royale") by way of cheesy 1970s chic (think "Logan's
Run"); the resulting discotheque feels as if it's been in operation
since before Travolta. Although standard club elements abound -- waitresses
in zipper-top biker leather, translucent walls with buddhas projected
onto them -- there're more than a few goodies (look for the underground
"lake") to make the experience memorable and worth repeating,
and the booming mix of disco, techno and hip-hop keeps the room bouncing
nonstop. Las Vegas Nightlife -Baby's is on the small side (capacity 900,
stacked, packed and racked), and drinks are expensive, but hey, welcome
to L.A., buddy.
Barking
Frog Las Vegas Nightlife
5150 W Spring Mountain Rd
(702) 451-4006
Friday nights offer live 80's music. The corny theme can be daunting,
but this west- side pub 'n' grub is worth the warts. The Barking Frog
boasts a fairly impressive selection of draft beers -- ranging from domestic
usual suspects to more obscure fare -- live music and a strong food menu
(try the clam chowder served in a bread bowl). The service can be choppy
at peak times, but the grub and the relaxed atmosphere make it worthwhile.

The
Beach Las Vegas Nightlife
354 Convention Center Dr.
Live Entertainment most nights
(702) 731-1925
The Beach has six bars and one main dance floor in addition to a raised
dance floor. Waitresses strut their stuff in bikinis as they entice patrons
to do a shot. Upstairs you can kick back to a game of pool or try your
luck on the video poker or slot machines.
BJ's
Lounge Las Vegas Nightlife
218 E Tropicana
Las Vegas, NV
(702) 896-5854
In the looming shadow of the MGM lion lies an improbable bar. BJ's Lounge,
a character-filled watering hole that, despite its near-Strip location,
still manages to suck in a strong flow of regulars. It's no wonder --
the generous happy hour specials and live music (every Tuesday) make it
worth the trek past the Strip. Las Vegas Nightlife
Blue
Diamond Saloon
6935 Blue Diamond Rd.
Las Vegas, NV
(702) 896-1455
A no dress code, no cover sharge Country music bar. Open Fridays thru
Sundays 8pm-1am
Cleopatra's Barge
3500 South Las Vegas Blvd. (Caesar's Palace)
Las Vegas, NV
(702) 731-7110
Though they've added the Forum Shops, dancing statues and an underground
magical empire, Cleopatra's Barge in Caesars Palace still ranks among
the resort's most famous must-see attractions. Actually, it's hard to
miss on the walkway that connects the main casino to the Olympic casino:
Just look up, and you'll see the bow of the wooden ship, with its carved
figurehead of a buxom mermaid bobbing up and down with the waves.
